PondPro Buffered Clarifier is a water treatment product intended to control soluble phosphate in water. he product also works as a clarifying agent by coagulating and settling out suspended dirt particles. It
is safe for fish, frogs and aquatic plants when used as directed. DIRECTIONS
FOR USE: The
pH of the pond must be checked in ponds with fish. We recommend that
pH be between 6.5 and 8.4. The reason: – in very alkaline ponds
(above pH 8.5) the Aluminum in these products can react with the alkaline
groups to form Aluminum Hydroxide which can be toxic to fish. In
larger ponds and lakes, for phosphate control alone add 20 lbs per
acre-foot of water. (325,000 gallons) For
clarification add 80 lbs per acre-foot of water. Distribute
the product evenly over the water surface.
Making slurry with a few cups of For garden ponds use ¼ pound per 1000 gallons of water. (1/2 a measuring cup per 1000 gallons) The water will turn milky white after addition. This turbidity will begin to dissipate within 1 to 2 hours. The pond should clarify after 12 to 24 hours. Ponds with a lot of suspended dirt particles may require multiple treatments to achieve desired results. Repeat treatments can be applied 48 hours after prior treatment. Please
refer to label directions.
Keep out of reach of
children. What is Alum? Alum is Aluminum Sulfate. This is the most widely used product to
treat municipal waste waters for clarity and phosphate control. The
Aluminum ions bond with phosphate molecules in the water. The
resulting Aluminum Phosphate (AlPO4) is insoluble in water. This
precipitate settles to the bottom of the pond and the phosphate is no
longer available as a nutrient. Also, the Aluminum ions act to agglomerate suspended dirt particles
leaving the pond water sparkling clear. |
