POLYDEX and POLYPRO are copper based algaecides that provide broad spectrum algae control. They are easy to apply and safe for ponds with fish at the recommended dosage rate of 0.06 parts per million POLYDEX
is
NSF 60 Registered for use
in Potable Drinking Water applications at dosages up to 1.0 ppm. POLYPRO is the same effective product as POLYDEX without the NSF60 Potable Water Registration.
First: Calculate your pond volume into US Gallons. Use one of the following formulas. Measure the actual depth of the pond and pace off the dimensions if possible, as we have found most estimates are inaccurate.
Man Made Pond (steep slope): Length (ft) x Width (ft) x Depth (ft) x 0.7 = Cubic Feet x 7.5 = US Gallons Natural Pond (shallow slope): Length (ft) x Width (ft) x Depth (ft) x 0.3 = Cubic Feet x 7.5 = US Gallons
Second: Obtain the appropriate Initial Application dose from the Chart Below
Third: Apply according to your situation, 1 or 2
1) In water WITH FISH and AERATION, or water with NO FISH, the full Initial Application dose can be applied at once. When treating an entire water body, apply POLYDEX / POLYPRO by pouring directly into the pond in a few locations. It is hydrophilic or self dispersing and will mix easily on its own. Raking out floating algae before treating will require using less POLYDEX / POLYPRO because there is less algae to absorb it. For spot treatments, mix 4 parts water to 1 part POLYDEX / POLYPRO and spray directly on floating algae or over the target area.
2) In water WITH FISH and NO AERATION, add 50% of the Initial Application dose of POLYDEX / POLYPRO on Day 1 and the balance in 2 equal amounts leaving 3 days between each application. SEE EXAMPLE BELOW
One full Initial Application of POLYDEX / POLYPRO should be applied to the pond in the spring and then a full Initial Application amount done at the very first sign of visible algae. This will allow for residual POLYDEX / POLYPRO to remain in the water to help prevent future blooms. Applying it this way will result in the clearest water and the least amount of POLYDEX / POLYPRO used over the summer. Using the product to prevent algae blooms is much more cost effective than using it to treat algae blooms. When treating an algae bloom, if there is still algae present 4 – 5 days after a full Initial Application has been applied, another full Initial Application can be done.
EXAMPLE:
Man made pond
With Fish
and NO Aeration:
SIZE
100 feet long, 75 feet
wide, avg
14 feet deep. The
Initial Application dose of POLYDEX
/ POLYPRO
for
"Water With Fish"
for 500,000 gallons is 2 Liters, spread over 3 treatments. Day
1:
1st Treatment is 50% of 2 Liters which equals 1 Liter of
POLYDEX
/ POLYPRO Day
4: 2nd Treatment use
25% of 2 Liters which equals ½ Liter of POLYDEX
/ POLYPRO Day 7: 3rd Treatment use 25% of 2 Liters which equals ½ Liter of POLYDEX / POLYPRO |
